The construction of the campus network of SWUFE, now called
SWUFE-NET, bagan in January 1996. The first phase of this project was completed in May of the same year.
It was the earliest form of SWUFE-NET, which was connected to SWERNET ( Southwest
Educational and Research Network ) by means of DDR , enabling a
part of administrative departments to be on Internet.
Development of SWUFE-NET
Once SWUFE campus network was constructed, its development took on a fast tendency.
The second phase of SWUFE campus network project started in November
of the same year as it was first constructed and finished only five months later. It was
constructed into the backbone network of the former SWUFE-NET, which took the library as its
center, with the administrative office building , computer center building
and foreign expert hostel linked to it, making all administrative
departments on Internet. Meanwhile, some of family users can be online
via dialing-up.
By October 1998, the third phase of SWUFE campus network project was
finished. It accomplished the linking work of the residential quarters
and data-storing building, adding another 1060 LAN nodes, fulfilling
the need of the teachers for a direct online service via LAN at home.
SWUFE-NET, a Promising & Hi-tech Setup in SWUFE
At the beginning of 2000, SWUFE-NET was formally established as an
important setup of SWUFE. Then, there has been a great progress
in its development and many new tasks such as distance education
are scheduled in its plan. As a subcomponent of the public service
system of SWUFE's "PROJECT 211", SWUFE-NET will continuously improve
itself for a faster and more convenient information transmission
system with a highly efficient backbone network and sufficient subsystems in
order to create a better, more favorable environment for software
development and application. By doing so, we can make even better
use of net resourses at home and abroad, and raise the level of
scientific innovation and research, management and teaching.
